Temper tantrum diva...

Littley is 18 months old, and she is discovering that what we want her to do is not necessarily the same as what she wants to do...she is now starting to get a little mind of her own.

I want her to have a nappy change, she is quite happy to do one of two things...either spend the whole day in her nappy not realising the nappy rash that will ensue where Papa and I will inevitably have to deal with it more regularly then the occasional nappy change...or have the most incredible temper tantrum an 18 month old can have as if there is someone out to take her life and soul.  She will use the force of every muscle in her body including her baby toe.  Let me not get on about toes as nail cutting is another issue...

I want her to hold my hand in the car park, she is quite happy to run directly into oncoming traffic...

I want to feed her breakfast, lunch and dinner, she is quite happy to go hours without food and guzzle down a litre of fruit juice and then is full again.

I want to take her dummy out of her mouth as she's starting to speak funny, yes it sounds cute, but can you imagine an adult saying things like shooths and not shoes, bea and not beans, bise and not bike...then its not so cute.

Well what did the books say, what did the creche teacher say, what does the family say, the friends...the list can go on, they all say the same thing or nothing at all...no this advice doesn't help, I've tried it all and I've tried nothing...it doesn't work!!!

We have had a change in our sweet angel pie, she is now not so sweet, not so angelic...pie...well she would shove her fingers in it, stuff it in her face and then blow raspberries until it all rolled out of her mouth and down her new outfit...and unfortunatley as she changes we have come to acknowledge that we are changing too...we're becoming shouty, moody, childish parents....not cool, not what we planned...

We are now currently at one of the most beautiful Resorts in SA, golf, tennis, Spa...its all calling and before we left our housekeeper offered to take our Littley for the week we were away...she asked 3 times, I must admit I was horrified at the thought of leaving Littley with the housekeeper while we relaxed and refreshed our weary bodies and minds...well after the most unrelaxing, temper tantrum relenting holiday we have ever endured the offer has become quite enticing....NO Serene Motherhood perish the thought...maby next year we'll just bring our housekeeper with on vaca...now thats sounds enticing...

You have managed to get to the end of this post, in anticipation of some amazing parenting advice...well, I am sorry to dissappoint you, but the only advice I can give you is hold on in there, this soon shall pass(I damn well hope it does).
